Kela Kofta

I am very fond of bananas since childhood. So thought why not make a delectable Indian
dish using my favourite fruit.I made these delicious (Banana) kela koftas.
They can be had with hot rice or even parathas. It is a must try ,so let us begin!!!

  Serves 3-4

  INGREDIENTS:

1.Raw bananas 4
2.Jeera 1tbsp
3.Jeera powder 2tsp

5.Coriander leaves (to garnish)
6.Onions 5 large
7.Tomatoes 2
8.Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
9.Oil (to fry)
10.Chickpea flour(besan)  2 tsp
11.Green chilli 2
12.Red chilli powder 1 tsp
13.Ginger and Garlic paste 1 tbsp (homemade preferably)
14.Garam masala 1/2 tsp
15.Salt to taste

METHOD:(for the kofta)

1.Boil the bananas well. After they have been boiled, let them cool properly.

2.Now remove it's skin and mash them.Add jeera 1tsp jeera powder,1 chopped green chilli,
1/2 tsp red chilli powder, salt, 2 finely chopped onions and the chickpea flour.

3.Mash well and make sure there are no lumps. Now shape them into round balls using
  your hands.

4.In a pan put oil just enough to fry these balls. As soon as the oil gets heated up,
place the balls carefully into the oil.

5.Once the balls(kofta) turns brown you must turn off the burner.

6.On a plate place tissue paper. Now place the koftas on this plate so that the tissue paper
   absorbs the extra oil.

7.Now we will prepare the gravy for our kofta.

 METHOD:(for the gravy)

1.In a pan put 1 and 1/2 tablespoon of oil.Once the oil is heated add the jeera.

2.Let it sputter then add three chopped onions.Let the onions turn light brown.

3.Now add the Ginger Garlic paste.Fry well.

4.Add tomatoes along with salt and turmeric.Fry until the tomatoes become soft.

5.Add the green chilli, red chilli powder, jeera powder and coriander powder.

6.Add 1/2 cup water.Keep cooking until you see
oil on the sides. This ensures that your gravy is done.

7.Add the garam masala and add the koftas as well.

8.Close the lid and cook for another five minutes.

9.Your kofta is ready.

10.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice/parathas.

TIPS:

1.Add chickpea flour (besan) to bind the kofta well.
2.Put garam masala in the end to prevent the masala from burning.
3.Add turmeric powder and salt to the tomatoes so that the tomatoes cook faster and
  become soft.
